No Pensions for new Oakley Council Members

The Oakley City Council did a nice thing for the city by agreeing (5-0 vote) that any future officeholder won’t be part of the state’s Public Employees’ Retirement system, an action that is expected to save the city about $1,050 per person—or about $5,250 – annually.  It should be noted, current Council members will keep their pensions due to State laws.

What the City of Oakley residence need to understand that once the current council members are voted out, the city will start saving money as newcomers to the council are no longer eligible for pensions.

In November of 2012, I will do my part to save the city money by voting out current incumbents.
