Supervisor Mary Nejedly Piepho is seeking qualified, motivated candidates to serve on the following county advisory committees:

County Service Area P-2A Citizen Advisory Committee
4 seats

Closing Date:  Open Until Filled

Advises the Board of Supervisors and the Sheriff’s Department on the needs of the Blackhawk community for extended police services.

The Committee meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. located at 1092 Eagle Nest Place in Danville.

Alcohol and Other Drugs Advisory Board

Closing Date:  Open Until Filled

The board assesses family and community needs regarding treatment and prevention of alcohol and drug abuse problems and provides input and recommendations on prevention, intervention, and treatment services to the Contra Costa Health Services Department, the Board of Supervisors, and the communities they serve. 

The Board meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month at 3:45 p.m. located at the Alcohol and Other Drugs Services Division, 1220 Morello Avenue, Suite 200 in Martinez.

 Fish and Wildlife Committee

Advise the Board of Supervisors on fish and wildlife issues in Contra Costa County.

The Committee meets on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. located at the Road Maintenance Division lunch room (squad room) – 2475 Waterbird Way, Martinez CA 94553.

Byron Municipal Advisory Council

The Council shall advise the Board of Supervisors on land issues and planning matters affecting the community of Byron and may represent the Byron community before the Board of Supervisors and the Zoning Administrator on such issues as land use, planning and zoning.

Applicants must reside within the Byron Municipal Advisory Council boundaries.

The Council meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m. located at Excelsior Middle School, 14301 Byron Highway in Byron.

Economic Opportunity Council
1 seat

Closing Date:  Open Until Filled

Review fiscal and programmatic reports submitted by staff and the performance of Community Services Block Grant contractors and the Weatherization program services. Makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors on all program proposals and budgets related to Community Services Block Grant and the Weatherization program.

The Council meets on the 2nd Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. located at 40 Douglas Drive, Rm. 101 and 102, in Martinez.

Mental Health Commission
1 Consumer seat

Closing Date:  Open Until Filled

To review and evaluate the community’s mental health needs, services, facilities, and special problems to the Director of Health Services and theBoard of Supervisors.

The Commission meets on the fourth Thursday of each month at 4:30 p.m. located at the Concord Police Department Community Room, 1350 Galindo in Concord.

Background: The Board of Supervisors receives valuable input and community participation from numerous citizen advisory boards on a range of issues. Boards usually meet monthly on a regular basis.

Candidates for these positions must live in District III or any specified boundary area for special districts.  District III is comprised of the cities of Antioch, Brentwood, and Oakley, and the unincorporated communities of Bethel Island, Blackhawk, Byron, Diablo, Discovery Bay, and Knightsen.
