More information will come shortly, but I wanted to get this message out quickly.
Via East Contra Costa Firefighters
On behalf of the East Contra Costa Firefighters, we would like to inform the community of a recent illness in our fire department that we are asking for everyone’s help.
Fire Engineer Willie West has become very ill and is hospitalized at this time. His fellow firefighters are trying to raise funds to help Mr. West in his time of need. The funds will go towards hi medical expenses, legal fees, meals and family expenses that are occurring.
Mr. West has been with the District since 2002 and works at Station 94 in Knightsen. He is in his 50’s. Prior to working with the District, he was also an AMR EMT in Alameda County. He was hired during the merger in 2002 and was one of the Oakley volunteers who was hired full time
A bank account through Bank of the West in Oakley has been established to help the West family. Donations are needed ASAP. Any help would be appreciated and we thank you for your kindness.
To donate, please call Bank of the West and tell them you wish to donate to the “Willie West Fund”. These donations are tax deductible.

Jim Frazier, councilman, helped set up the trust fund yesterday while the Network of Care has provided meal bags to assist his family with some food. Mr. Wests fellow firefighters are helping take care of his house while he is in the hospital and cooking some meals for his family to help make it easier on them during this time of need.
