CalFIRE Bans Open Burns Because of Dry Weather

So much for open burns this holiday weekend, CalFIRE has banned open fires in its service areas due to extremely dry weather. The ban effects Alameda, Contra Costa, Monterey, San Mateo, and Santa Clara counties, as well as western San Joaquin County.

The ban begins Friday at 8:00 am until further notice.

Campfires are still allowed in designated areas, but agricultural and industrial burns are only allowed if a CalFIRE inspector issues a special permit.
