Lisa Vorderbruggen, Contra Costa Times columnists, was kind to Oakley Candidate Jim Frazier running for Assembly District 11 seat when she mentions he “trumped” fellow Democrat competitors—I like that terminology. For the record he received 96% at the Pre-Endorsement Conference.
The following is what she wrote.
In the newly drawn heavily Democratic Assembly District 11 — east Contra Costa County and a large chunk of Solano County — the dominant party’s nod for the upcoming political contest went to Oakley Mayor Jim Frazier.
He trumped two fellow Democrats — labor negotiator Patricia Hernandez, of Rio Vista, and retired Benicia fire Chief Gene Gantt in last weekend’s endorsement conference.
In my opinion, it’s time for Mr. Gantt and Ms. Hernandez to drop out of the race after last weekend hit both of them with a dose of reality. Both are not qualified and are outclassed by the other three candidates which include Len Augustine and Mike Hudson.
Vorderbruggen went on to question whether or not party endorsements will help in the open primary as one must appeal to both Democrat, Republican, and Independents—it’s safe to say anytime you can get an endorsement that someone else doesn’t get, common sense says it’s a good thing.
Looking at the Assembly 11 District demographics, there is a population of 466,986 where nearly half are democrats. Below is a full look at the demographics and population of each city.
