You may have noticed the KRON Channel 4 van parked outside Laurel Elementary school yesterday as they gave a report live from Oakley where there may be a possible norovirus outbreak. The parents of children at the school were sent a letter from the district nurse alerting them to the possibility. The school is currently being cleaned to help prevent future cases.
Earlier this month, Knightsen School District had a similar experience where over 200 children were absent due to flu like symptoms.
Those showing symptoms from the virus are asked to stay home for at least two days after symptoms go away. For more information, visit the Contra Costa Public Health Department at http://cchealth.org/groups/cd or by calling 925-313-6740.
